GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A Greensboro man is etching his life story on a wooden log.

Austin Goldman calls it a "personal story log."

"The whole premise of the personal story log is that when a person picks up your story log, they'll know so much more about you than they ever would know in a general conversation," he said. "It's a great means of breaking the ice and starting a conversation."

Once he retired, Goldman wanted to find a new hobby, and he says the idea just came from God.

Occasionally, he'll find one that is too large to be a walking stick, so he uses it as a wall hanger; but most travel along with him -- just like a story.

It's a great way for people to share their personal journey, keeping a literal log of their life.
