Davidson County inmate arrested after spitting on officers

LEXINGTON, N.C. — An inmate at the Davidson County Detention Center is facing charges after he spat on several detention officers, according to a press release.

On Oct. 10, detention officers reported that they had been assaulted by an inmate. After an investigation, officials found the officers were assaulted by 20-year-old Dieon Hopkins, who spit on them.

Hopkins is charged with one count of malicious conduct by a prisoner and injury to personal property.

He was placed in jail on a $15,000 bond and has a Nov. 14 court date.
