GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A 4-year-old Florida boy got the ultimate surprise after he dressed up as his hero for Halloween — his father.

Jermaine Hayes has been deployed in Iraq for the past eight months, according to WCJB. Jordan, who missed his father, wanted to find a way to honor his real-life hero.

Knowing Jermaine was returning around Halloween, Jordan’s mother Kavasia started looking for events they could attend as a family and found a treat-or-treating party, Inside Edition reports. When she reached out to the organization, they said they’d help her plan the meeting.

Ready to attend a trick-or-treating event, little Jordan proudly dressed in his U.S. Army Halloween costume.

As Jordan made his way down the street, the crowd parted and he and his father embraced each other — the perfect Halloween treat.
