HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. – A North Carolina couple that loves scary movies built and lives in an exact replica of the house from the horror classic “Halloween.”

Kenny Caperton and his wife Emily built the house from the ground up and designed it themselves.

They wanted it to look just like the creepy home from the iconic 1978 slasher movie.

The couple even decorated the inside of the home with horror posters and memorabilia in honor of the movie.

Caperton said he got the idea after visiting the real “Halloween” house in South Pasadena, Calif.

“I wanted to live in a replica of the house, so we built it from the ground up,” Caperton said. “It was just an idea, I didn’t know if it would be possible.”

Caperton, who works as an independent filmmaker on the side, said it took a lot of work. Especially for being right out of college at the time.

He said they started clearing land in Aug. 2008 and moved in the following year.

Caperton said Halloween is a special time for him and brings back positive memories.

He said he remembers trick-or-treating and watching all of the Halloween movies with his friends. One year, he said his parents gave him a life-sized coffin to jump out at people with.

The couple will host a Halloween bash on Saturday which features actor Kip Weeks from the horror movie “The Strangers.” The movie will be shown and Weeks will sign autographs, according to Caperton.

Anyone who wants to visit the Halloween house has to first make an appointment. After all, it’s their private home. No unexpected visitors please.
