PORTLAND, Maine -- Police have arrested a man who they say dressed as a tree and blocked traffic in Maine.

Asher Woodworth, 30, was detained after police warned him against obstructing traffic in a busy downtown Portland intersection.

WCSH reports the man was dressed as a tree to see how people would react to what he called his "performance." He also wanted to see how he might influence "people's natural choreography."

The type of tree he wanted to impersonate is currently unknown, but it looked like a pine tree.

He was charged with obstructing the public way.

Police have not provided any additional details.
