NC home invasion suspect killed after homeowner fights back

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. – A homeowner defended himself and his family against a man accused of breaking into their North Carolina home, according to authorities.

WTVD reported that it happened at about 4:15 a.m. in Wayne County after the armed suspect broke in, prompting a home alarm to go off.

Deputies said the homeowner defended himself and the suspect was wounded after the gun went off during the struggle.

The homeowner called law enforcement and the suspect was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The identity of the victim has not been released. The homeowner is not expected to be charged.
