Eden woman charged in hit-and-run death of man on moped
EDEN, N.C. – A Rockingham County woman has been charged in the hit-and-run death of a man driving a moped.
Jennifer Elaine Stewart, 32, of Eden, faces one count of felony failure to stop or remain at the scene when serious bodily injury or death occurs.
The suspect was arrested in connection to the death of 44-year-old Tiano Dupree Casey, according to Eden police.
Casey was headed east on Meadow Road at about 7 p.m. Thursday when a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed ran into the back of his moped, according to police.
The driver fled and Casey was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a press release. The alleged driver was arrested shortly later.
Stewart was jailed in Rockingham County under a $10,000 secured bond and has court planned for next month.
