Police investigating overnight armed robbery, assault in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A man was assaulted and robbed in Burlington early Tuesday morning.

At about 2:44 a.m., police were called to the 300 block of Vance Street, according to a Burlington police press release.

The victim told officers that he was approached by three men, who initiated a conversation. Several minutes into it, one suspect pulled out a gun and assaulted him. During the attack, the suspect dropped the gun and another picked it up, putting it up to the victim’s head, demanding money and his cell phone.

The victim was not injured during the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
