Greensboro police continue to investigate Sunday’s three separate shootings

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Greensboro police are continuing to investigate three separate shootings happening just hours a part, one of which was deadly.

Police said the three shootings don’t appear to be connected.

The deadly shooting happened Sunday night on Rugby Street. Raheem Samad Heading, 43, was found shot in his car and later died.

“You know, any crime is too much and any death and any shooting is too much,” said Capt. Nathaniel Davis.

Just hours before, another shooting was reported on Randleman Road where a person was found shot.

Minutes after the deadly shooting on Rugby Street, police responded to a call on West Florida Street where two people were shot.

“As the police department, we are looking at ways that we can readjust our strategies, our deployments, our efforts to ensure that the citizens of Greensboro feel more safe,” Davis explained.

Davis says the uptick violence is not just happening in Greensboro but nationwide.

As commanding officer of the Criminal Investigation Division, he hopes to bring over his experience from his previous role in community engagement.

“I hope to take on or bring in some of those community engagement efforts...and that I would like to say that I have been a part of different meetings, different conversations with talking to the city about how the police department can be better and how the city can be a more safe city,” he said. “We feel like we are a part of this community as well.”

No arrests have been made in any of the shootings.

Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened in all three shootings.
