NC teen accused of murder captured after escaping custody

ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. — Five hours after he escaped, authorities captured a 17-year-old North Carolina teen who jumped from a moving transport vehicle while in the custody of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Micah Keishaun Cameron, 17, was being taken from the Rockingham County Jail to the Orange County Detention Facility when he fled, according to WNCN. The escape occurred around 1:30 a.m. and he was captured at about 6:45 a.m.

At the time of his escape, officials say Cameron was restrained with handcuffs, leg irons, and a belly chain. He was last seen wearing a red two-piece inmate jumpsuit with “Rockingham” on the back in black letters.

Cameron is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony probation.
