Winston-Salem father accused of hitting son, 9, in head with hammer multiple times
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man is facing charges after an alleged assault on his 9-year-old son.
Ramel Shaban Daye, 33, is charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, according to a news release from the Winston-Salem Police Department.
At 2:34 p.m. Sunday, Winston-Salem police officers responded to the 1400 block of East Fourth Street after receiving a report of an assault involving a weapon.
An investigation revealed that Daye struck his 9-year-old son in the head with a hammer multiple times, the release said.
The 9-year-old child is in the hospital in critical condition, according to police.
Daye is being held under a $1 million bond.
