Thomasville shooting victim identified

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — The man who was shot in the stomach in Thomasville early Thursday morning has been identified.

At about 1:08 a.m., Davidson County Communications received a 911 call from a person who reported hearing gunshots and seeing a person running through their backyard. About 10 minutes later, police were alerted that a gunshot victim had arrived at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center.

After a preliminary investigation, officers concluded the shooting took place at 301 South St.

The victim was identified Thursday afternoon as La’Tres Jayquan McCall, 23, of Lexington.

McCall was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital where he was listed in stable condition Thursday morning.

There is no word on a suspect or a motive for the shooting.
