Asheboro police searching for suspect after ‘serious assault on a child’
ASHEBORO, N.C. — Asheboro police responded to what they are calling a “serious assault on a child” Wednesday morning.
Officers tell FOX8’s Nick Sturdivant they responded to an incident involving a 4-year-old child at about 5 a.m. on Tabor Court.
Investigators were on the scene for much of the morning.
Randolph County Dispatch says they received a call from Social Services regarding the incident.
There is no word on the condition of the child but officials say the child was taken to Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem. An arrest warrant said the child suffered bleeding around the brain and swelling of the brain.
On Wednesday night, Asheboro police said in a news release they have obtained a warrant for arrest for 31-year-old Keayone Lamont Murphy, of Asheboro. He is charged with child abuse inflicting serious injury.
