NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Two surfers were bitten by sharks at a popular Florida beach over the weekend, according to WFTV.
The first incident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday while a 32-year-old man was surfing and a shark bit his side. He suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment.
Sunday morning, a 21-year-old man's left foot was bitten. The man sustained minor lacerations on the top of his foot and went to the hospital on his own for treatment.
Officials say there have been 14 shark bites in Volusia County so far in 2016. Three people were bitten by sharks within three hours in early September.
