LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A Lexington daycare is in trouble after an investigation revealed staff members were playing a 'smacking game', WDKY reported.

State officials investigated New Creation Childcare in Lexington, Kentucky, and found several violations.

A report says two male staff members would play a "Smack for a Snack" game. The report says the only way school age children could get a yogurt is to allow the men to hit them with a stick on their leg and/or hand. State officials say at least two students had noticeable bruising. Lexington Police cited one staff member with second-degree assault.

The report also says there were too many kids in one room; 27 children to 1 staff member. It also pointed out there was no "sign-in" or "sign-out" for students.

The daycare was placed under intermediate sanctions which called for increased monitoring of the daycare.
