Charlotte-Mecklenburg police headquarters evacuated due to suspicious package

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — People were evacuated Tuesday afternoon from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police headquarters in uptown Charlotte after sources said a suspicious package was discovered in the mailroom, according to WSOC.

Channel 9’s Joe Bruno was inside the building and was told to leave. He saw bomb-sniffing dogs on the scene and was told that the bomb squad was on the way to headquarters.

Alexander Street and North Davidson Street between Trade and 5th streets are closed. 5th Street and Trade Street between Davidson and N. Alexander streets are also closed as police investigate.
