ATHENS, Tenn. — Three people, including the shooter, were killed in a shooting at a Tennessee factory Thursday afternoon, according to WATE.
The shooting was reported at 4:16 p.m. at the Thomas and Betts factory in Athens.
Police Chief Chuck Ziegler said when officers arrived, they found three people dead, including the shooter, who died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Ziegler said the shooter was an employee of the factory.
Nearby McMinn County High School was placed on lockdown as a security measure but no threats were made toward the school.
Thomas and Betts manufactures connectors and components for the electrical and communications industries.
