Reidsville police chief speaks ahead of ‘Unity in the Community’ town hall meeting

REIDSVILLE, N.C. -- The North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police and the North Carolina Central University School of Law are sponsoring the “Unity in the Community” town hall meeting.

The event is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 28.

It will include six universities -- Winston-Salem State University, Fayetteville State University, the University of North Carolina at Asheville, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and Elizabeth City State University.

North Carolina Central University is the host site, but it will be streamed live to the remote sites.

Some of the sites will have their own panels.

Robert Hassell, chief of police for Reidsville, is also president of the NCACP.

FOX8’s Natalie Wilson spoke with him about the goal of the town hall meeting and the recent protests in Charlotte.
