2 Central Davidson High School students killed in crash

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- Two Central Davidson High School students were killed in a wreck that occurred at N.C. 47 and Summerville Church Road Wednesday morning.

Donna Stafford, chief public information officer for Davidson County Schools identified the two students as Anna Ascencion and Cameron Hedrick.

The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. and it involved two separate cars, according to Larry James, director of Davidson County Emergency Services. Ascencion and Hedrick were in the same vehicle. The victim from the other vehicle was transported via ambulance to Wake Forrest Baptist Health, according to James.

"The teachers and students are very much saddened by the news. Our focus is on supporting the family, students and staff members of Central Davidson High School. Guidance counselors, social workers and support staff are on campus to provide counseling and support for the staff and students," she said in a release.

Continue on Shiptontown Road to re-access NC-47. Motorists traveling Southbound must turn right onto Shiptontown Road. Continue on Shiptontown Road to NC-8 and turn left. Continue on NC-8 to Flat Swamp Road and turn left. Continue on Flat Swamp Road to Summerville Church Road and turn left. Continue on Summerville Church Road to re-access NC-47.
