Robert Kennedy’s daughter says George H.W. Bush will vote for Clinton

WASHINGTON — Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend, daughter of Robert Kennedy, says former Republican President George H.W. Bush, 92, is “with her.”

In a Facebook post published on Monday, Townsend, the former Maryland lieutenant governor, says Bush will vote for the Hillary Clinton, wife of his successor, former Democratic President Bill Clinton.

The post, which presents a picture of Townsend and the former president shaking hands, was captioned: “The President told me he’s voting for Hillary!!”

In an email exchange, George H.W. Bush’s spokesman Jim McGrath wouldn’t confirm or deny the claim.

“The vote President Bush will cast as a private citizen in some 50 days will be just that: a private vote cast in some 50 days,” McGrath said, according to Politico. “He is not commenting on the presidential race in the interim.”

If confirmed, Bush would be one of the several high-profile Republican officials to oppose Republican nominee Donald Trump and support Clinton.
