Motorcyclist killed in collision with truck in Kernersville

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — A motorcyclist was killed in an accident in Kernersville Thursday afternoon.

At 2:25 p.m., Kernersville police officers responded to the intersection of Bost Street and Donnell Street on a reported motor vehicle collision with injuries.

A 2006 Kawasaki sport bike, driven by 21-year-old Tyler Wayne Hayden, of Kernersville, was traveling east on Bost Street. A 2005 Toyota Tundra, driven by 21-year-old Wayne Stephen Joyner, of Walnut Cove, was traveling west on Bost Street.

According to a news release from Kernersville police, as the two approached the intersection with Donnell Street, the motorcycle and truck collided.

Joyner suffered minor injuries and he refused medical treatment at the scene.

Hayden was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem with life-threatening injuries. While at WFBMC, Hayden died from injuries he sustained in the collision, the release said.

The Kernersville Police Department’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the collision.
