GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A law enforcement pursuit ended in a crash on Wednesday night and a deputy was injured, according to Col. Randy Powers with the Guilford County Sheriff's Office.

It is unclear where the pursuit started. Powers said a man in an SUV was driving erratically and a Guilford County deputy attempted to stop him.

The driver did not stop and sheriff's deputies executed a "running roadblock," where one deputy is in front of the driver and one is behind.

The erratic driver rammed the back of a deputy's car, Powers said. As a result, the deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is being treated at a local hospital.

Powers said deputies deployed stop sticks, which took out multiple tires on the SUV.

The pursuit ended when the suspect wrecked along I-40 East near the Gallimore Dairy Road exit. The suspect was taken into custody, Powers said.

The suspect's and injured deputy's names have not been released.
