SPRUCE PINE, N.C. -- On the crest of the Blue Ridge Parkway lies a beautiful orchard, just perfect for area's unique landscape and history.

The Orchard at Alta Pass in Spruce Pine has been around for a long, providing people everywhere with fresh apples, good music, and hometown comforts.

Since Bill and Judy Carson bought it in the 1990s, they were afraid development would change the landscape - instead, it's been preserved.
