Police arrest man accused of robbing bank in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man accused of robbing a bank in Winston-Salem at gunpoint has been arrested, according to police.

Michael Lawrence Hill, 22, allegedly robbed the Wells Fargo Bank at 5995 University Parkway shortly before 9:20 a.m. Saturday.

Winston-Salem police said the suspect was found and arrested at about 6 p.m. later that day. A firearm was recovered during the apprehension, according to police.

Police said Hill entered the bank with a handgun and demanded money and then left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Nobody was hurt.

The suspect was placed in the Forsyth County Detention Center. Preliminary court dates and bond amounts had not been determined as of Saturday night.
