Family identifies 6-year-old girl as victim in North Carolina murder

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Relatives of the young girl who was murdered and found by law enforcement on the Blue Ridge Parkway Friday have identified her as 6-year-old Lila Pickering.

WLOS reported that search warrants from the investigation revealed Saturday morning that the victim was a juvenile.

“She was a lively little girl who loved animals and the outdoors,” said Cindy Dabill, Lila’s grandmother.

36-year-old Seth Pickering, Lila’s father, has been charged with first degree murder in the case.

Friday evening, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, assisted by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office and the National Park Service, began an investigation into a homicide along the Parkway near the Brevard Road exit at mile marker 393.
