Burlington police officer charged after crash with injuries
BURLINGTON, N.C. — A Burlington police officer who was involved in a crash on Thursday has been charged with a moving violation.
Officer A.J. Davis was charged with an unsafe movement violation on Friday after police said they completed an investigation on the crash.
The crash happened at 6:22 p.m. Thursday when Davis was traveling southeast on Summit Avenue and attempting to make a turn onto South Mebane Street.
Police say a vehicle operated by Santos Samuel Recino Erazo, was traveling on South Mebane Street when Davis failed to yield the right of way and pulled into Erazo’s path.
Both Davis and Erazo had their vision obstructed by a city transit van and they collided, according to officials.
Both Erazo’s passenger, Efren Gonzalez Rodriguez, and Davis were taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center. Rodriguez is in stable condition and the officer has been released.
Erazo had been charged with operating a motor vehicle with no operator’s license.
