WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A pedestrian was hit while walking across the street in the 5500 block of Regents Village Drive Wednesday morning.

Forsyth County Emergency Medical Services responded to the call at about 7:35 a.m. The driver of the vehicle said the sun was in their eyes when the incident occurred.

An investigation revealed that 71-year-old Eiraj Taheri, of Winston-Salem, attempted to cross the roadway without ensuring that the traffic had stopped and was then struck by the vehicle, according to a news release from Winston-Salem police.

Taheri sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released.

No charges will be filed, Winston-Salem police said.
