500 pounds of marijuana found at home near Sapona Ridge Country Club in Lexington

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- Seventeen bags of marijuana were seized from home at Sapona Ridge Country Club on Monday night, according to Davidson County Sheriff David Grice.

The bags were found at a home in the 600 block of Indian Wells Circle and contained about 510 pounds of marijuana, Grice said. The marijuana was worth approximately $828,000.

Grice said two men, identified as Hong Nguyen and Haih Nguyen, were renting the house and turned it into a marijuana growing operation. The home had seven grow rooms set up inside.

The two men were stealing the city's power and using about 10 times the amount of power a home that size should use, Grice said. On Saturday, they blew a transformer in the neighborhood due to how much power they were using.

Hong Nguyen and Haih Nguyen have both been detained. No bond information has been released.
