GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — One person was killed and another was injured in a wreck in northeastern Guilford County Tuesday evening, according to Highway Patrol troopers on the scene.

The accident happened at about 7:30 p.m. in the 7100 block of Sockwell Road.

Guilford County EMS Director Jim Albright told the Greensboro News & Record the injured victim is in critical condition and was transported to Moses Cone Hospital.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. Troopers on the scene said excessive speed was the likely cause of the accident.
