WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. – An elderly North Carolina woman saw the ocean for the first time ever thanks to friends at her assisted living facility.

WECT reported that 78-year-old Margaret Browning of Newton Grove was able to see ocean at Wrightsville Beach late last month.

The staff at Rolling Ridge Assisted Living took Browning there so she could enjoy the beach for the first time.

They used a special beach access wheelchair to get her as close as possible to the water. Browning was even able to get her feet wet.

The experience left a smile on Browning’s face. She described the ocean and the scenery as “beautiful.”

“It’s wonderful that we were able to bring a group of seniors to the beach today, because probably most of them wouldn’t have another chance to go again in this lifetime,” said Malinda Cotton-Knight with Rolling Ridge.
