ROCK HILL, S.C. — A South Carolina woman has been arrested after leaving two puppies inside a hot vehicle while she ate at a restaurant, WBTV reported.

The woman, 21-year-old Heather Sutton, went into a Rock Hill Olive Garden Friday afternoon.

Two passersby saw the puppies, estimated around six to eight weeks old, making a “screaming sound” from under the passenger seat of the vehicle.

They told officers they waited 10 minutes and then reached through a cracked window to unlock the vehicle and get the puppies out.

Police say it was 95 degrees outside at the time.

Sutton was charged with two counts of ill treatment of animals.
