NEW BERN, N.C. — A 2-year-old North Carolina toddler is recovering after being bitten by a rattlesnake, according to WNCT.

The girl was bitten while playing in her backyard with her family and friends.

“I could just see blood running from her knees to her ankle I couldn’t tell where it was coming from. There was just blood everywhere,” said Mike Stone, the girls’ father.

A family member who works a local hospital quickly decapitated the snake and rushed the toddler to the hospital.

The family says she is recovering well, but will permanently lose around 20-percent feeling in her leg.
