DANVILLE, Va. — A Virginia woman is now raising nine children – three biological children and six that she adopted from her best friend – after a July 19 ruling gave her and her husband full custody.

Beth Laitkep, a single mother to six children, died of breast cancer on May 19. Before passing, she asked her best friend Stephanie Culley to adopt her children.

“We started dancing as soon as the judge made his ruling,” Culley told ABC News. “It was like winning the Super Bowl for us. It was an amazing day yesterday.”

Culley’s story initially went viral in June, when she made the decision to take on the late Laitkep’s kids and expand her family.

Now, she can enjoy her new family.
