Three men arrested in murder of Burlington man, fourth suspect at large

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Four men have been charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery in the death of a Burlington man last month.

Kareem L. Johnson was shot around 2:40 p.m. on June 20 at 702 Tillman St. in Burlington. He died on June 22 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill from his injuries.

Officials are calling the incident a drug deal gone bad. They also said they will be seeking the death penalty against one of more of the people charged in the case.

Those charged are listed as:

  • Jaiquan Monitique McDaniel, 19, of 6620 Barton Creek Dr. in Whitsett, N.C. He was arrested and taken into custody at the Guilford County Jail and held under no bond.
  • Khalil Dyshaun Moore, 17, of 1195 Anderson Rd. in Prospect Hill, N.C. He surrendered to the Burlington Police Department and is being held in the Alamance County Jail under no bond.
  • Tevin Devenita Crisp, 24, of 702 Tillman St. in Burlington. He was arrested and taken into custody in Burlington and is being held in the Alamance County Jail under no bond.
  • Keyshawn Ter’ll Chrisp, 17, of 317 Caswell St. Apt. 18 in Burlington. He remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.

The investigation is continuing. Some information about this case and a motive is being withheld at this time.
