MOORE, Okla. — An Oklahoma woman suffered third-degree burns after hot pennies spilled in her vehicle.

A cup of sizzling-hot change spilled into the seat of Melissa Sechrist’s SUV last week, KWTV said. The change then came in contact with her leg, causing the burns.

She said that the wounds, which she thought would be fixed by applying ice, were diagnosed as being third-degree and needed medical attention.

“The doctor actually when she came in and lifted my shorts up,” Sechrist said, according to KWTV. “Her eyes got real big and she kind of jumped back. She’d never seen anything like it!”

Her wounds are being treated with ointment.
