New Jersey man receives life term in ‘Nanny Cam’ beating case

MILLBURN, N.J. — A New Jersey man who was caught on video beating a woman in front of her 3-year-old daughter was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday.

According to WABC-TV, Shawn Curtis is set to serve at least 63 years and nine months of the 75-year term before he is eligible for parole.

The incident, which occurred in a 2013 break-in, was caught on a nanny cam and shows the man abusing the woman – eventually throwing her down a flight of stairs.

Curtis was initially charged with attempted murder and was later found guilty of aggravated assault, burglary, criminal restraint, theft and child endangerment.
