NC teacher accused of selling prescription pills from her home

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina teacher is in trouble after selling prescription pills out of her home, WECT reported.

Kelly Kiggins Hansen, 49, was arrested at her Shallotte residence Wednesday night. She was charged with trafficking in opium or heroin and possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a schedule II controlled substance.

Hansen is a language arts teacher at Shallotte Middle School.

School officials said Hansen was placed on administrative leave with pay effective June 30.

Her court date is set for Thursday.
