Coastal Carolina University wins College World Series

OMAHA, Neb. — The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers defeated the Arizona Wildcats 4-3 Thursday to win the College World Series.

Arizona took Game 1 on Monday 3-0 to take the lead in the best-of-three series.

Coastal Carolina came back on Tuesday and won 5-4.

The Chanticleers clinched the series in a nail-biter on Thursday. Coastal Carolina took a 4-2 lead into the ninth inning but allowed Arizona to score a run to make it 4-3 before closing the Wildcats out.

The College World Series victory marks the Chanticleers first national championship.
