In the broad daylight, San Francisco police were able to stop an armed robbery Saturday.

In the video posted to YouTube, a car backs into a space under a shady tree along the street.  As tourists walk by, a group of gunmen emerge and rip away the tourists’ bags. One of the tourists ran down the hill, alerting the plainclothes police, who respond in force.

Before the driver can make his getaway, police surrounded him with guns drawn.

“We’ve had a large uptick in tourist theft recently, though mostly ‘smash and grab’ out of parked cars,” wrote Some One, the YouTube user who posted the video. “Really glad the cops were so vigilant this afternoon.”
