Florida man shoots son to death after argument over beer
PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — A father and son are dead after an argument over beer turned violent in Florida Saturday night, WFLA reports.
A dispute started at the family’s home just before 9 p.m., authorities said. Police went to the home after Irena Bogusiewicz, 58, and her husband, Waldemar Bogusiewicz, 59, were arguing over who was going to buy more beer.
At some point, the couple’s son, 25-year-old Adrian Bogusiewicz, came to see what his parents were yelling about. Irena then went outside to call the police, leaving her husband and son alone in the home.
Adrian and Waldemar then began a dispute of their own, which escalated before police arrived.
Officers Michael Jasiukiewicz and Jeremy Copeland went into the home to investigate and found Adrian on the floor of his bedroom, suffering from gunshot wounds. Waldemar, brandishing a gun, began shouting at the officers to leave. Waldemar then shot at the officers, who returned fire, hitting him.
Adrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Waldemar was transported to Northside Hospital where he died of his wounds. Irena and the officers were not injured.
Autopsy results are pending for both the son and husband. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the husband’s shooting.
Officers Jasiukiewicz and Copeland have been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation per department policy.
