NORTH BRADDOCK, Pa. — A Pennsylvania boy is dead, and his mother’s fiance is accused of killing him.

According to WPXI, authorities say the suspect admitted to abusing 8-year-old John-Marquis Stepich over his messy bedroom.

John-Marquis’ uncle, Raymond Stepich, was with the boy Thursday night when he died after being on life support.

The boy’s soon-to-be stepfather, Orlando Williams, told police on Monday he got angry with John-Marquis because the child’s room was messy and slammed the boy’s head against a bedpost.

“He had bruises throughout his body, his arms, his chest,” Stepich said. “He had scratches on his neck, scar on his head. It wasn’t a pretty sight to watch.”

Williams, a tier-three sex offender, wasn’t allowed to be around kids, yet he was living in a home with John-Marquis and his two siblings.

The mother lost custody of the other two children, who are with their grandmother.

“Someone could have done something before it got to this point,” Stepich said. “That boy did not have to die for someone to step in and do something.”

Williams is charged with homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
