Davidson County man facing charges after raping two children

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Davidson County man is facing rape charges against two minors.

Jaime Alberto Barba (Torres), 40, is facing one count of first-degree rape of a child, one count of statutory rape, one count of first-degree sexual offense, two counts of first-degree sex offense with a child and four counts of indecent liberties with a child.

According to a news release, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into Barba in February 2008 and continued their investigation until he fled.

In May 2016, Barba was discovered in Maryland and extradited back to North Carolina.

He’s currently in the Davidson County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond and has a July 11 court date.
