Father of Burlington homicide victim shot in Caswell County

BURLINGTON, N.C. — The father of a man fatally shot in Burlington on May 30 was shot on Thursday in Caswell County.

Tony Antwane Daye, 38, was shot about 12:45 a.m. at 255 Ross Acres Road No. 2, the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

Chris Verdeck, assistant chief with the Burlington Police Department, confirmed to the News & Record that Daye is the father of Tony Antwine Daye Jr., 17, who was shot and killed at City Park in Burlington on May 30. Police have charged four people in connection with the shooting.

The elder Tony Daye was shot multiple times, said Capt. Frank Rose with the sheriff’s office. He was taken to a hospital by emergency responders. Rose would not say which hospital.
