RALEIGH, N.C. -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol says it is once again joining other state troopers, up and down the East Coast, for Operation Border to Border.
The operation is set for this coming weekend, which is expected to be one of the first of many busy summer travel weekends.
"I've seen a lot of cops," said Jon Drew, traveling from visiting family in Durham to his home in New Orleans. "They have different cars than they do at home so you have to be on the look out for them."
The three-day operation, starting this coming weekend, will target heavily traveled highways and interstates with speed checks and DUI check points in an effort to reduce traffic crashes and criminal behavior.
This is the fifth year for the multi-state enforcement. Last year the operation resulted in a total of 2,018 tickets.
