Man arrested in connection with bank robbery in Asheboro

ASHEBORO, N.C. — Asheboro police have arrested a man in connection with a bank robbery that occurred last month.

Justin Thomas Hewitt, 22, of Asheboro, is charged with armed robbery.

According to a news release from Asheboro police, the Bank of North Carolina on North Fayetteville Street was robbed on May 6.

Following an investigation, Hewitt was identified as the suspect and was apprehended on Wednesday in the 1400 block of Winslow Avenue.

Hewitt was confined under a $250,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court June 10.
