ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Emergency crews say they were called to a recreation center in St. Louis to tend to a child that almost drowned in the pool.

The incident happened at about 5:20 p.m. at the Dunn-Marquette Recreation Center.

A 6-year-old girl was at the pool with her family when she allegedly wandered away. Authorities say the family was looking for her when another little girl found her and pulled her out.

Crews arrived on the scene and rushed the child to a local hospital. She is breathing with assistance. The child is listed in critical and unstable condition.

Investigators say she was in three feet of water for an indeterminate amount of time.

The recreation center says the pool was fully staffed with six lifeguards and there were approximately 100 people in both pools when the incident happened.
