WACO, Texas — A woman who saved her child when they were thrown off a Waco overpass suffered a severed left leg, requiring amputation below the knee, according to KXXV.

Jennifer Duncan also shattered her pelvis and had other serious injuries as she shielded her 8-month-old son and fell 30 feet.

Her son, Daniel Vela, only suffered a scratch.

“I just remember praying, ‘God, please don’t let my baby die’. It was the scariest thing you can possibly imagine. I’m just thankful my son is still alive”, Duncan said.

She has already undergone multiple surgeries and more are expected on a long road to recovery.
