WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem police have identified the man shot outside a Winston-Salem strip club early Wednesday and are asking for the public’s help to determine what happened.

Police responded to a shooting at 2:47 a.m. at Paper Moon Gentlemen’s Strip Club at 1007 Salisbury Ridge Rd.

Upon their arrival, officers learned that a shooting had occurred in the parking lot and the victim had been taken to Forsyth Hospital in a personally-owned vehicle. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, Eric Jermane Pegues, 41, was pronounced deceased.

Authorities determined that Pegues was shot multiple times as he stood in the parking lot, near the entrance to the business.  The shooting occurred as the business was closing and investigators have not located any evidence to indicate that the shooting was preceded by any type of altercation or argument.  However, investigators do not believe this was a random act.

Investigators have also determined that a large number of potential witnesses were present at the time of the shooting.  Most of those witnesses have yet to come forward or speak with officers. Authorities are seeking the help of those witnesses and remind anyone with information about this incident; they can remain anonymous when reporting information to CrimeStoppers.

Authorities ask that anyone with information regarding this incident contact the Winston-Salem Police Department at (336) 773-7700 or CrimeStoppers at (336) 727-2800.
