Stokes County business owner confronts alleged robbers, gets wallet back

KING, N.C. – A business owner in Stokes County confronted two people accused of stealing her wallet and got her wallet back.

Dwayne Edward Martin, 49, and Donna Patricia Ballou, 33, both of Amherst, Virginia, face charges after being arrested in connection to the incident.

Authorities said the suspects went to Petals Metals & Wood at 103 E. Dalton Road in King on Saturday morning.

One of the suspects talked to the business owner and the other took her wallet from behind a counter, according to officials. After the owner found her wallet missing, she called 911.

The owner said she saw the suspects go to a nearby business and she went to confront them. One of the suspects gave her the wallet back.

Authorities found the suspects and arrested them after they drove off. They face various charges. Martin was jailed under a $10,000 secured bond and Ballou a $5,000 secured bond.
