Prison escapee captured in Winston-Salem
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – An inmate who escaped from the emergency room at Forsyth Medical Center Sunday morning has been captured.
William Bailey, 31, was caught in Winston-Salem at about 4 p.m. after he allegedly escaped just before 7 a.m. earlier that day.
Bailey had escaped from the custody of a correctional officer while at an emergency room.
Bailey and the officer were on their way back to Forsyth Correctional, a minimum security facility, when Bailey escaped, according to authorities.
He was serving about a 3-year-sentence for several counts of possession with intent to sell a controlled substance and was scheduled for release in May 2017.
